Im the only one thinking that the fights in in this season of jjk is lacking emotions/hype?? Yeah the animation is very well done. Probably the BEST right now. But for me there is no hype or emotions in those fight! Like for example The saske vs Itachi fight. It was build up to the max since the first season of Naruto. Then when the fight actually happen in Shippuden it was Epic and Emotional because there is a build up leading to that fight. Now back to JJK. In this season Yuta fought 4 villian. Yeah they are powerful and the fight animation is good. But in the end of the episode I dont feel anything. Its just that those 4 villian is just some random npc. There is no emotion.

@E-Satie Thanks. I thought I am just crazy thinking that there is no emotion about those fights! Its like the opponent yuta fought in the last episode is just another "Villian of the Week" type. Disposable.

I think using big shounen series like Naruto as an example is a poor example because you have 200 eps in Naruto and 500 in Shippuden. To build out fights, like Itachi vs Sasuke, Pain vs Naruto, and the 2nd fight of Naruto vs Sasuke. Where we are just on 59 eps for Jujustsu Kaisen. I still agree with you that the fights with the old sorcerers Yuuta fought against lacked emotion of me caring about them as much. Since I don't know much about them. But I care a lot more about Higuruma from learning about his background into being a player of the culling games when against Itadori. Also Maki with the rest of the Zenin Clan once Mai died was a fight that held emotional weight to me as well.

Yeah its a bit weird despite the incentives of the reincarnated sorcerers having “unfinished business” hence why they agreed to join and most of them just came to basically vent their anger without attending to said business Its just really hard to do it on a weekly basis so its either a really good battle but lacking in emotion or the other way around. Its not impossible its just really hard

You're so right! These are exactly my thoughts. Compared to season 1 and especially 2 which built up every fight, showed its significance and had emotional moments, this season 3 looked like a blockbuster movie but felt almost like an ad. I only started enjoying it during the Higuruma and Reggie episodes honestly |

This has definitely been my main complaint with the Culling Games, in that it feels like a bunch of different disconnected fights. BUT, I think its main strength (other than the fights themselves) is its ability to make me care about these characters in such a short time. It made me adore Takaba after only a minute or two and episode 8 in particular with Higaruma’s backstory was perfectly done (genuinely top 3 episodes of the season) which mostly made up for this issue as I cared a lot about Higaruma during his fight in episode 9. On top of this, I think the action writing is really well done: so the fights are entertaining not just because of the animation direction, but because it’s such well-written back-and-forth. I love Megumi vs Reggie but it’s not because I particularly care about Reggie, and it’s not because of the animation either (though it did certainly help). The main thing is the way they were forced to think on their feet and adapt to the situation around them, and seeing them constantly unveiling new ideas and twists and techniques, that’s what generated the hype for me. TL;DR: I somewhat agree, but JJK manages to build hype/emotion in other ways, not just the animation.

Skill issue. Fights have always been full of emotion if you actually watch the show. Yuji's guilt of letting Sukuna rampage in Shibuya, Megumi contemplating on being a good person and not straying away from her sister's wishes and Yuta's burden of being the strongest and how it matches with Ryu's and Uro's ideals. I guess I wouldn't expect you to comprehend that you lowbrained individual.

I get what you mean, a lot of the fights are missing that emotional tie-in between the opponents. I feel like an opportunity was missed between Maki and the Zenin clan, but that’s on Gege more than it is on the animation studio. Kinda wish Maki and her sister’s relationship was more fleshed out or rather, in between fights there were sequences, moments, or small snippets of Maki and Mai in a childhood they could’ve had if not for their clans outdated mysoginistic beliefs. It would’ve given Maki’s battle with the Zenin more weight since she was doing it all for Mai and not, for what it felt like, killing for the purpose of purging the clan from existence.

Exactly this. So what that it looks great when it literally means nothing to me? We don't know the characters that are fighting. They showed up just to fight, bringing nothing to the table story-wise and got defeated and that's it.

If this show didn't have fantastic animation...what exactly would it have going for it? If all things were equal, animation wise, this Jujutsu Kaisen is nowhere remotely as good as things like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach etc. The only character that stands out is that Gojo because of how much they keep hyping him up. It's the same with that Demon Slayer, it blew up because of the animation. Reading the manga at the moment it's really not that great, it's decent enough but it's forgettable. Now something like Attack on Titan that I can see why it warranted it's popularity, but this ain't nothing but a bunch of well animated but ultimately forgettable fights. I'm not gonna remember a thing from this show in half a years time.

@Quail98 Attack on Titan was unique, at least initially. It wasn't a battle Shonen for one. As far as the anime series goes though it's perfectly understandable why that was popular. There was no other anime like that. It had a genuinely interesting premise with the titans being quite memorable and terrifying. It was graphic, you had significant characters being killed off etc. So yeah I absolutely understand why that blew up, even had the animation not been as great as it was it would have still had those things going for it. Demon Slayer is a very generic series. It is inferior to most other battle Shonen manga that got big. If this had become an anime in the middle 2000's around the same time as the likes of Naruto and Bleach, it would not have blown up in the way that it has. Same thing with Jujutsu Kaisen. Both of these two shows have only become popular because of the animation. Had these been shows that came out 20 years prior with the standard animation you'd expect back then, it'd have been long forgotten by now. Like D Grey Man or Hitman Reborn.

KnY freaking mogs both. If Demon Slayer came at that time why are we even bothering with mid and mild shows like Naruto? No, like why would I bother with a series with low and reversible and non-existent stakes and consequences when there's sth way better now. Shit i forgot random retcons which are random bs go whenever author sees fit. And don't even get me started on Bleach If this had become an anime in the middle 2000's around the same time as the likes of Naruto and Bleach, it would not have blown up in the way that it has. scabab said: Actually showed how these other generic shows would have hit if they ever actually did any shonen part right or to the bestDemon Slayer is a very generic series. It is inferior to most other battle Shonen manga that got big. |

Maybe at best it's on the same level as something like My Hero Academia but no even Bleach which went to crap at the end is still better than Demon Slayer because at its peak it was actually very good. Demon Slayer was never at any point very good. |

sasuke v itachi is one of the peaks of naruto so why would we use that standard to judge a mid-tier fight for jjk? yuta sendai colony has never been about personal stakes

That's what I'm hearing from manga readers 💀 If this is the case, I'll just wait for Satoru's reappearance, then I think I might be done with this show
@inolzia I mean it’s the culling games… a free for all fight, what emotion were u expecting? Some super sad backstory and a flash back against the villains? Not every fight needs some 2 seasons build up, we got that last season, the point rn is to speed run points for the rules, bring an emotional fight doesn’t matter bc those fights are not important to the story like how yuji vs choso or vs mahito was

@QDrstone29 Bro, they already did an emotional fight this season when Yuji fought the lawyer sorcerer. His flashback was only one episode, yet within that short time they still managed to make you care about his character!
