BUT THE INCESSANT FLOW OF LETTERS WORDS PUNCTUATION AND POWERPOINT SLIDES... this was about 2 normal anime episodes' worth of subtitles in BOTH forms (on-screen text and dialogue). let me examine the timebar of the episode exactly in the form i watched it... 23m 55s long in total. only 5s short of the standard 24m episode, but very close. exactly 1m 30s of OP, to the second. 1m 29s EP not including the 'next time on JJK' clips... including the clips 1m 44s. 3m 14s of OP/EP/PV (preview). that makes the 'main body' of this episode 20m 41s long.
3m is the standard anime format for TV OP+EP... so... 21 minutes of 'main body' is standard TV anime episode length. LONGER than this episode as i watched it. but just by 19s. therefore pretty close to the benchmark.
therefore, taking double the amount of data you as a human being have to absorb and then shoving it into half that amount of exposure time for the viewer? physiologically. psychologically. you're. gonna. screw. it. up.
period. the human eyeballs and brain and mind just cannot handle THAT much info, that rapidly.
so my issue isn't my literacy. it is the amount of effing wordage that came outta this episode into my eyeballs and my brain. along with ALL THE OTHER VISUAL AND AUDIO DATA.
this was like 1 professor giving a lecture. half his screen behind him is his lecture. in script form. text. every word outta his mouth is in. the. script. the OTHER half of the screen behind him is his presentation. actions. words. shapes around the words. lines connecting words. maps. animated maps. animated words. animated lines. animated shapes. videos of people and stills and their names. SOME of his presentation is in Japanese. but he was kind enough to provide on-screen English translations of his Japanese. BUT HE DID NOT TRANSPOSE said text. you got kanji AND English trying to occupy the same space as just the kanji was using beforehand. add into all this? on your desktop before you is your laptop opened to? THE CLASSROOM CHATbox! where the other attendees of that lecture are discussing anything they wish, asking questions of the professor, he answers them IN the CHATbox, oh and you also gotta LISTEN to everything in the room because there are audio cues, the prof included BGM and musical themes! lucky you! there are also sound effects like grunts and laughs and such AND the chattering of the other lecture attendees' mouths... some of the attendees even put their internal monologues INTO the CHATbox!
i was curious about you and looked your profile up here on MAL. it did teach me something today so i thank you very kindly! somebody made a manga of Mein Kampf... i did not know that and frankly... i find the concept that Mein Kampf needed a manga treatment... inconceivable. you on the other hand are insanely brave or incredibly stupid to put Hitler on your Favorites list for characters.
also, if the episode can't give me what i want or need? hmm... nah. i didn't go digging for S1, 2, nor Movie 0... either. so i won't be digging up ALL the stuffs about S3. i'm just not that... big of a fan of this show. i'm not... curious enough about every one of the nitty gritty down n dirty details and so forth. for me, those rabbit holes will remain unexplored. i will look around inside the rabbit holes that make me truly puzzled or genuinely curious. but this show isn't fascinating me enough to follow the white rabbit everywhere he may roam.
